Beginning, Again

“Beginning, Again”, the follow-up to “Walking: the Changes” is now available. This is the second collaboration between author Linda M. Hasselstrom and photographer James W. Parker. “Beginning, Again” is a collection of Linda’s writings that have appeared in various places, but never before in print. James W. Parker revisited older photographs to illustrate the emotions and feelings that Linda writes about. Together they rekindle past memories and lead the reader to discover their own.

Linda M. Hasselstrom and James W. Parker continue to examine the themes of ranch life, family, and rural characters in poetry, photographic images, and essays. Looking back, the two South Dakota artists examine wide ranging topics, such as overdone Western gates, scenery from a moving car, and water issues. The new book expands the reader’s horizons with Parker’s images of a prairie austere, yet commanding. Hasselstrom’s prose is both auto-biographical and archetypical, giving insights into her long career as a rancher, a writer, an environmental activist, and an educator. The authors take you on a journey through the grasslands of western South Dakota & Wyoming, guiding you through a wild variety of topics that lead you to your own beginnings.

Retail price of the 192pp book is $39.95, plus shipping via USPS. Books ordered from Lame Johnny Press will include a bookplate autographed by Linda and James.
